(As) If you needed an excuse to love Pumpkin Spice…Here it is.

It’s that time of year… pumpkin spice is here. And not that you need our approval, but we are saying “Go Ahead, indulge, pumpkin spice everything!” We’ve done some research and we suggest that you skip the artificial stuff and go straight for the REAL stuff. Not only are artificial pumpkin spice flavorings toxic and gross but the real stuff packs some serious nutritional value and is delicious to boot. The main ingredients in most pumpkin spice recipes are : cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, vanilla, ginger & pumpkin. Keep reading to see why your morning fix of pumpkin spice doesn’t have to be a guilty pleasure but can be an everyday part of healthy living!

Pumpkin: Full of vitamin C & Beta-Carotene, pumpkin is great for keeping your immune system in tip-top shape.
– High in fiber and aids in weight loss
– Potassium packed, pumpkin is great post workout

Cinnamon: Delicious and healing, this spice is loaded with antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties
– Aides in lowering blood sugar levels
– Fights bacterial and fungal infections

Cloves: This spice is known for it’s anti-inflammatory properties and packs a huge nutritional punch, it contains ; eugenol, manganese, vitamin K, iron, magnesium and calcium.

Nutmeg: Containing disease preventing phytochemicals, this spice also has anti-fungal , anti-depressant and gas-inhibitive properties that assist in a comfortable digestion process.

Vanilla: We don’t generally consume vanilla in high enough doses to really utilize the nutrition that it contains however, we do believe that vanilla makes everything more yummy and that is reason enough for us to keep using it!

Ginger: Another great post workout supplement, ginger has the ability to aid in muscle pain and soreness.
– Lowers blood sugars
– Reduces menstrual pain
– Protect against neurocognitive disorders

RAU Pumpkin Spice Hot Chocolate

This recipe is super simple. Just toss in your crock pot, let sit and serve. It’s so delicious too. Both children and adults will love it!

– 1 bottle Semi-Sweet RAU
– 2 Cups of your favorite nut milk (We used walnut milk and it was delectable)
– 1 can of full fat coconut cream
– 3/4 Cups Pumpkin puree
– 2 tbs Vanilla
– 1 tbs Pumpkin Spice
– 1/2 tbs Cinnamon (this is optional…we just like extra 🙂 )

Add all ingredients to your crockpot, stir together and warm for at least 45min. Top off with your favorite dairy free whipped cream and it’s ready to serve!
